Hailing from Bihar, the then-timid boy opted for cricket as his serious choice of career in 2012. Mukesh Kumar was shortlisted for state trials under the Vision 2020 programme by Sourav Ganguly held in 2014. His impressive performances fetched him a spot in the Bengal domestic side but a series of injuries kept him away from cricket.
Mukesh’s lucky break in 2018-19 of Ranji Trophy scripted history. He toppled the flamboyant batting line-up of Karnataka by picking up six wickets including the likes of KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and Karun Nair. His impressive performance propelled Bengal to the finals.
With consistent efforts and sheer determination, Mukesh received his maiden call-up in 2022. He was in the squad against South Africa as well as Sri Lanka but he is yet to be capped.
