Kuldeep Yadav is one among the rare breed of cricketers who bowl left-arm wrist spin. The chinaman bowler first burst onto the scene in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup in UAE where he emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 scalps across six outings. In the game against Scotland, the Uttar Pradesh born Kuldeep entered history books by becoming the first Indian bowler to pick up a hat-trick in the Under-19 World Cup.
Earmarked as one for the future, Kuldeep found opportunities in India’s domestic setup immediately and continued to impress with his art. In the 2016 Duleep Trophy, the youngster snapped 17 wickets in three matches to catch the eye of the national selectors.
His performances soon found him a spot in the Indian team and in the next one year, Kuldeep became an all-format player for India. In 2018, representing Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, Kuldeep Yadav picked 17 wickets to register his best performance in an IPL season.
Over the next two years, Kuldeep continued to grow as a spinner, forming a formidable and famed spin-bowling partnership with Yuzvendra Chahal - Kul-Cha! In 2019, he became the first Indian bowler to claim two hat-tricks in international cricket while the following year, he set the record for becoming the fastest Indian bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav has scalped 31 wickets in the last two seasons and we’ve got a lot of expectations from and faith in this wizard for IPL 2024!
