Behind the stumps, Taniyaa Bhatia is one of the most trustworthy keepers in the country. Born in Chandigarh, Taniyaa started playing cricket at a very young age. She was trained under Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh’s father, during her initial days.
At 11, she became the youngest to feature on the Punjab U-19 team. By the age of 13, she had already made it onto the senior team. After a few years of juggling between life and cricket, Taniyaa grew as a cricketer and eventually reached greater heights when she received a national team call-up.
She made her debut against South Africa in a T20I match in early 2018. She was the first female cricketer from Punjab to play for India. In the same year, she represented India at the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and was named one of the five breakout stars in the women’s game by the ICC.
She was part of India’s run to the final in the T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia and later played in the Commonwealth Games 2022 as well, where India finished with the silver medal. In the meantime, she also made her Test debut, playing in two Tests in 2021. On her debut, she saved India from a potential loss with an important knock.
She has joined the Delhi Capitals as we aim to win the TATA Women’s Premier League.
