With our first win of the season under our belt, we head to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium for our next TATA Indian Premier League 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The boys are determined to keep the winning momentum going after a wonderful team effort against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Qila Kotla in our last outing.
Our head-to-head record against SRH in the past has been a neck-to-neck affair. While the Orange Army has won 11 of the 21 meetings, we have emerged victorious on 10 occasions.
The last three results, however, have gone our way, including a 21-run victory in Mumbai last season. Our captain David Warner was the star of the show at the Brabourne Stadium that night with a splendid unbeaten 92.
Players To Watch Out For:
Ishant Sharma
Our local boy Ishant Sharma, playing his first IPL match in over a year, put on a terrific shift with the ball against KKR to help us win at the Qila Kotla. Having turned up for SRH from 2013 to 2015, Ishant will be familiar with the wicket and conditions in Hyderabad and could prove to be the ace up our sleeves in the match.
Axar Patel
Bapu’s all-round showing has been a big positive for our team this season. With 148 runs, he is the team’s second-highest run scorer so far and his four wickets make him our third-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2023. Head Coach Ricky Ponting and our fans will be looking forward to another solid performance from the dependable Axar against SRH.
Key Battles:
Mayank Markande vs David Warner
No other player has a better record than our Skipper at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Additionally, Warner is also our highest run-getter in IPL 2023 with 285 runs to his name. His tussle with young leg spinner Mayank Markande, SRH’s leading wicket-taker this season with eight scalps in four games, may prove crucial in which way the match turns.
Aiden Markram vs Kuldeep Yadav
SRH captain Aiden Markram is a crucial piece in the Hyderabad team’s batting line-up and will be responsible for anchoring their innings in the middle overs. Getting him out quickly may prove to be the key to victory for us. Kuldeep Yadav can prove to be the perfect man for this job with his capability to provide crucial breakthroughs.
With four wickets in his last two outings, Kuldeep is high on confidence and will be eager to contribute with the ball again vs SRH.
